Islara Vazquez

Hello, my name is Islara Vazquez.  I am a 29 year old Program Coordinator for UAB Hospital.  I want to be the 2011 Do Dah Day Queen because I think it is an amazing cause.  Although I do not currently have a pet of my own, I have always been a huge animal lover... except for bugs.  I dog sit for friends all the time and believe that pets are great friends and that humans can benefit mentally, physically, and emotionally from their companionship.  I would appreciate your support and here's how you can help me: every dollar you donate to my run for Queen counts as a vote.  These funds are so important to Do Dah Day's beneficiaries, especially with the tremendous help the shelters are giving the recent tornado victims.  Thank you and I hope to see you at Do Dah Day as the 2011 Queen!

 Alex McDonald

My name is Alex McDonald.  I am a 22-year old substitute teacher, currently teaching 2nd grade at Valley Elementary.  I have always been an animal lover.  In fact, my first word was "dog."  I am currently the proud owner of a black lab mix named Kodi.  I also enjoy volunteering at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society in my spare time.  All animals of any shape and size have a place in my heart.  I would greatly appreciate your vote for Do Dah Day Queen.  Each dollar donated in my name is a vote for me, and all of the money raised goes to the beneficiaries of Do Dah Day for 2011: the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and the Friends of Cats and Dogs Foundation.  Raising money for this event means I am contributing to a cause I truly believe in.
